Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Luxdeck ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") handles information. We wrote it to describe what the App actually does, so that what you read here matches the way the App behaves on your device.

1. Summary

Luxdeck is a light meter. It uses your device camera as a light sensor to estimate illuminance (lux), photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD), daily light integral (DLI), and color temperature, and it lets you keep a local log of the readings you save.

Everything the App measures happens on your device. Camera frames are read in real time to compute a reading and are then discarded; they are not saved and are not transmitted. The readings you choose to save are stored on your device. The App has no account system, contacts no server of ours, and contains no third-party advertising, analytics, attribution, crash-reporting, or tracking software.

The only situation in which information leaves your device is when you make a purchase through the App Store, which Apple processes under its own terms (Section 5). Apart from that, the App does not send your readings, camera images, or any personal information anywhere.

2. The Camera

The App uses the camera for one purpose: to measure light. When you point the camera at a spot, the App reads the image brightness and color in real time and converts them into a reading. The image frames are processed on your device and are discarded immediately after the reading is computed. They are not written to storage, added to your photo library, or transmitted.

The App does not take or save photographs, does not perform face recognition, and does not use the camera for anything other than the live measurement you are viewing.

3. Information Stored on Your Device

When you save a reading (for example by holding a measurement), the App keeps that reading — its value, mode, chosen light source, and time — on your device so you can review it later, chart it, or export it yourself. Your unit preferences and any manual fine-tune you set are also stored on your device. Because the App operates no server for this content, we hold no copy of it. You can delete individual readings, clear the entire log, or remove the App, which deletes its local data.

Any file you choose to export (for example a CSV of your log) is handed to the operating system share sheet at your request and goes only where you send it. We do not receive it.

4. Information We Do Not Collect

We want to be specific about what the App does not do.

4.1 No data collected on our servers. The App does not create an account, does not ask for your name, email, or phone number, and does not send your readings or camera images to us. We operate no backend that receives your data.

4.2 No advertising and no tracking. The App displays no third-party advertising, does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, and does not track you across other apps or websites.

4.3 No analytics, attribution, or third-party SDKs. The App embeds no analytics, attribution, third-party crash-reporting, or push-notification software that collects personal data.

4.4 No location, contacts, microphone, or photo library. The App does not request your location, your contacts, your microphone, or access to your photo library.

5. Purchases and Subscriptions

The App offers optional subscriptions and a one-time purchase that unlock additional features. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles the transaction and any associated payment and order information under its own terms; we do not receive or store your payment card number, App Store credentials, or billing address. Apple's handling of your information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

6. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. Because your readings and camera images stay on your device and are never collected by us, there is no such data for us to share. Information you provide to Apple to complete a purchase is handled by Apple as the responsible party.

7. Your Rights under the GDPR

For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR grant rights including access (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18), data portability (Article 20), and objection (Article 21), and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Article 77).

Because your readings, preferences, and camera images are stored only on your device and are not collected by us, you exercise access, rectification, erasure, and portability directly through the App and your device: you can view, edit, export, and delete your records, and uninstalling the App removes them. The legal basis for using the camera is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR, which you give by granting the camera permission and can withdraw at any time in your device settings. For purchase and payment data, the responsible controller is Apple.

8. Your Rights under the CCPA

For California residents, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA) provides rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.140. Because the App keeps your readings and preferences locally and does not collect them, we hold no such personal information to disclose, delete, or correct; you manage that data directly in the App. Requests about purchase or payment data should be directed to Apple.

9. Children

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children, has no account system, and has no social, messaging, or public-profile features; the data it creates stays on the device. If you believe a child has used the App in a way that raises a concern under this policy, contact us using the details in Section 12.

10. Security

The App relies on the operating system's application sandbox and data-protection features to keep its local data on your device. Because the App does not transmit your readings or camera images to any infrastructure of ours, that information is not exposed to network interception by us.

11. Changes to This Policy

If a future version of the App adds a feature that collects or transmits information, we will update this policy to describe that feature, the information involved, any third party that receives it, and the legal basis for the processing, and we will update the effective date. Material changes will be brought to your attention within the App.

12. Contact

If you have a question about this policy or the App's handling of information, contact Qiulin Zhou at support@luxdeckapp.com.
