Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Qiulin Zhou ("we," "us," or "our") for the use of Luxdeck (the "App"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. License
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by these Terms and the App Store's Usage Rules, for your own non-commercial and internal commercial use. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.
2. Restrictions
You agree not to: (a) copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App; (b) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, or attempt to extract its source code, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law; (c) rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the App; (d) remove or alter any proprietary notices; or (e) use the App in any unlawful way or in a way that infringes the rights of others.
3. Your Content
The readings you save and the preferences you set are stored on your device. You retain any rights you have in that content. Because we operate no server that receives it, we take no ownership of it and hold no copy of it.
4. No Account
The App has no account system and does not require you to register or sign in. It does not create a user profile on any server of ours.
5. Subscriptions, One-Time Purchase, and Auto-Renewal
The App offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions and a one-time ("lifetime") purchase that unlock additional features such as spatial light-mapping and an unlimited, exportable measurement log. The price, billing period, and any free-trial terms are those shown to you in the App at the time of purchase and in your App Store settings.
5.1 Free trial. If you start a subscription that includes a free trial, you will not be charged during the trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription converts to a paid subscription and Apple charges the then-current price for the chosen period. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
5.2 Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple charges your account for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
5.3 How to cancel. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access to the premium tier until then. Uninstalling the App does not cancel a subscription.
5.4 One-time purchase. The lifetime purchase is a one-time, non-consumable purchase that unlocks the premium features on your Apple Account. It does not renew.
5.5 Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. Requests for a refund should be made to Apple.
5.6 Price changes. If we change a subscription price, the change applies to renewals after it takes effect, and Apple will seek your agreement to the new price where it requires it. You may cancel before the change takes effect if you do not accept it.
6. Measurement Accuracy; No Reliance for Critical Use
The App estimates light quantities (lux, PPFD, DLI, and color temperature) from a smartphone camera. These readings are estimates, not the output of a calibrated scientific instrument. Their accuracy depends on your device model, the camera, the scene, and your technique, and — where the App indicates a reading is not calibrated for your device — the reading is a relative estimate rather than an absolute measurement. A phone camera without an optical diffuser does not measure incident light the way a dedicated quantum or lux sensor does.
Accordingly, the App is provided for general and informational use only. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for any decision where an inaccurate reading could cause harm, loss, or damage — including, without limitation, professional photography or cinematography exposure decisions, occupational or workplace lighting compliance, laboratory or scientific measurement, medical or phototherapy dosing, or commercial horticulture or crop decisions. For any such purpose, use a calibrated instrument suitable for that purpose and confirm the App's readings against it. You are responsible for your own decisions and their consequences.
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its software, engine, visual design, text, and icons, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a license to use the App; they do not transfer any ownership to you.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any reading will be accurate. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the App or any reliance on a reading. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for all claims relating to the App will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or US$25. Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of certain damages, so some of these limitations may not apply to you, and nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
10. Termination
These Terms apply until terminated. Your rights under them end automatically if you fail to comply with any of them. On termination, you must stop using the App and delete it. Sections 6 through 9, 11, and 13 survive termination.
11. Store Terms; Apple
If you obtained the App from the App Store, the Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement — the standard Apple EULA, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ — applies to your use, and these Terms are the developer's additional terms. To the extent of any conflict on a matter the Apple EULA governs, the Apple EULA controls. You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us, not Apple, and that Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the App. Maintenance, support, and any product warranty to the extent not effectively disclaimed are our responsibility, not Apple's, and claims relating to the App are our responsibility as set out in these Terms. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the App changes or as required by law. If we make a material change, we will update the effective date and bring the change to your attention within the App. Your continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except that mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence continue to apply to you. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer that cannot be waived by agreement.
